Make America Great Again…

Joel 2:12-13 (NLT)

“That is why the LORD says, ‘Turn to me now, while there is time. Give me your hearts. Come with fasting, weeping, and mourning. Don’t tear your clothing in your grief, but tear your hearts instead.’

Return to the LORD your God, for he is merciful and compassionately, slow to get angry and filled with unfailing love. He is eager to relent and not punish.”


“Make America Great Again” was a popular campaign slogan used by President Donald Trump…the idea being that he would make America white again. That is, that the white or Caucasian race would not become a minority in the United States as predicted by demographic changes.

This notion that greatness is measured by prosperity, nationalism, or one race being superior to others, is preposterous at best. For what makes America great has more to do with the concept of what made America great in the first place. And it is as Thomas Jefferson stated in the Declaration of Independence:

‘We hold these truths to be self-evident…that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness’.

If America is to be truly great again, America needs to repent of her sins. She needs to turn to God with her whole heart, and make amends for her sins and the shameful atrocities of her past…not repeat them as some would suggest.

If America is to be great again, America needs to know that righteousness will exalt a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people. For only then will God bless America to be the land of the free and the home of the brave.
